Sewing Intern Needed

I am on the hunt for a very talented intern to join me in my studio or work from home. You must be skilled in sewing, as you will be helping me create samples and try out new product ideas.

I am not one for taking advantage and I want the lovely person who helps me out to get a lot out of this experience too. You will gain creative experience and see how I operate my business as well as have nice chats and cups of tea with me and my creative studio pals. Travel expenses will be covered but please only apply if you live within London. You must also have a sewing machine as I will need mine with me in the studio. I am very flexible on the start time of the internship so if you are a busy bee like me this shouldn't be a problem.

If you would like to join in with the textiles fun then please send me your CV, a cover letter and recent examples of your sewing work to hello@nancy-straughan.com

Emmanuelle Walker

I recently discovered the joyful work of illustrator Emmanuelle Walker. You have to watch this adorable animation too, not at all sure what she is saying but she is reet sweet.

Jennifer Causey

After recently featuring the Makers project curated by photographer Jennifer Causey I thought I should also feature her beautiful still ife and lifestyle shots. I don't really need to say how wonderful her pictures are, they speak for themselves. I'll just let you enjoy looking at them and also urge you to have a look at Jennifer's other work and projects on her website.

wiksten ss

Jenny Gordy of wiksten has managed to create a wonderful Spring Summer collection yet again. These pieces feature basic silhouettes, and are incredibly easy to wear. Her choices of fabric are always a hit with me too, as a textile designer I think Jenny has an incredible eye for weave and print. Buy the collection here in mid June. Photos are by the talented Jennifer Causey

I have an obsession for all things pink. This is a new thing and bit irritating. Last summer I fell out of love with pink and so when I moved to London I bought lots of new housey things which fall into the navy blue / biege family. Luckily my room in my family home is about as pink as a room can get, I think its time for a trip to my Mumma's place to get my pink fix.

Jude’s In The City

I've recently started a new job and today we got a lovely delivery of greetings cards by St. Judes. After sifting through them and figuring out where I wanted to put them up on my bedroom wall (anywhere, and everywhere) I remembered that three of the St Judes artists and printmakers are exhibiting at the Coningsby Gallery this month. I urge you to have a look at the St Judes site if you haven't already, there's some wonderful patterns and prints to look at.
